Supporting e-commerce paid media

Four-month paid-media internship working alongside a Google Ads strategist on live e-commerce campaigns.

The problem

Small e-commerce brands running Google Ads need consistent campaign attention — keyword research, bid tuning, audience refinement — but rarely have a dedicated in-house lead. The studio I interned with handles that work across multiple clients at once, and needed an assistant who could keep up.

The approach

Worked virtually with a senior Google Ads strategist (9+ years' industry experience, £20M+ in lifetime managed spend) across e-commerce client accounts. Day-to-day: keyword research, audience targeting, campaign structuring, and supporting setup + ongoing optimisation. Learned the rhythm of running paid media at scale — what to check daily, what to leave alone, where small structure changes move performance.

The outcome

Four months of hands-on paid-media exposure across multiple verticals. Came away with a working understanding of Google Ads as a system — not just the dashboard — and a clearer sense of where I want to focus next (audience strategy more than bid management).
